This is the cable that I bought: I was able to configure my television to HDMI. However, only video streams through my television. Right now I am using Mirror mode to display my computer on the external screen. I have already gone into sound settings and changed the output to HDMI, but to no avail. It also says that 'the selected device has no output controls.'

Macbook Pro Model Number: A1286 CPU Audio Settings: I have changed the output of sound from 'Built-in-speakers' to 'NS-PDP32-09 HDMI.' The sound turned off on the computer and, I'm guessing, went through to the TV. Nothing came out of the speakers, though. Windows vista home basic magyar nyelvi csomag.
I have also gone into 'Audio MIDI Setup' under 'HDMI.' The only thing that I can change is the setting 'Output.' Right now it is at 96000.0 Hz at 2ch-16bit. I tried changing it to 192000.0 Hz along with every other option that was available. I additionally changed the 2ch-16bit to 2ch-20bit and Encoded Digital Audio (the only other available settings in that drop menu).
